BUCS INDOORS 2016: 4 x Gold 2 x Silver 1 x Bronze
Fri, 26th Feb 16Team Scoring
Women 2nd & Men 6th
Combined Overall: 4th
Another strong team performance at this year’s BUCS Indoor Championships, despite missing some key individuals through injury. The women’s team finished 2nd overall in the team standings and showed real strength and depth in the field events. The combined team score with the men, gave Cardiff Met another top 4 finish. The team had many new faces and a mix of some of our most experienced athletes.
Over the 3 days, there were many seasons and personal best performances, as well as some good learning experiences.
The standout performances came from the double gold medals from Morgan Jones (ambulant 60m & long jump). The female team included two of our first year scholars making their Cardiff Met debut’s in style by winning BUCS titles at their first attempts. First, Anna Gordon cleared 3.90 to win the pole vault, then it was the turn of Adele Nicholl to win the shot put from her silver placed teammate Lucy Griffiths. Both with new personal best figures.
All of the successes were only possible with thanks to the team of club and personal coaches, support staff & parents. We are proud of the performances and plan to build towards an even bigger outdoor BUCS summer season.
