Club Membership includes:
- Entry to the National Indoor Athletics Centre (NIAC) – AU membership must also be purchased
- Travel and entry to Athletics Club competitions (e.g., Gwent XC league, Welsh Universities XC, Indoor Dual Meet vs Birmingham Uni, January GP, Inter Varsity, BUCS XC, Indoors, Outdoors & Combined Events)
- Access to Athletics Gym (NIAC)
- Access to our Athlete workshops
- Eligibility for BUCS selection
- Competition kit included in freshers membership:
- Vest or Crop Top, Running Brief, Lycra Short or Split Short, Warm-up T-shirt.
- Additional outerwear items can be purchased through Cardiff Met Athletics Macron Club Shop.
Membership is paid online through the Cardiff Met Athletic Union Website.
Membership costs for 2023-24:
- New members £170 (includes competition top, competition bottom and warm-up t-shirt)
- Returners £85
- Triathletes £55 (who are members of the Tri club)
- Each of these club fee’s need to be supported by the £40 fee to join to AU.
Where does your money go?
Our club budget is agreed by the Cardiff Met SU before the start of the autumn term. With over 100 members we raise over £7000 for the club each year. We also generate income from the Indoor Grand Prix Series. The SU then add to our fund, contributing 30% of our overall budget.
Much of this money is used to pay expenses for Cardiff Met Coaches – whose knowledge and work we are very grateful for.
Memberships are also used to fund our travel and entry fees to club competitions.
Membership does not contribute to towards BUCS competition, which the SU pay for entirely.
We try to keep membership costs down and we hope that you can adequately budget for this expenditure. For anyone experiencing hardship, please get in contact with the committee and we may be able to delay your membership costs.
