Wingfield & Griffiths Set to Compete at London 2017 World Championships

This weekend see’s two current Cardiff Met Athletics club members competing at the London 2017 World Championships. At 11:45 on Saturday morning Charlotte Wingfield (Malta) goes in the first round of the women’s 100m. Charlotte heads to the Olympic stadium in fantastic form through her work with club coach Matt Elias, and fresh from breaking both 100m and 200m club records.

The following day, Josh Griffiths (GB) starts only his second marathon, after his break through London Marathon back in April. The men’s marathon starts on Sunday at 10:55am and Josh will get much support on the streets of London, over the 4 laps of 6 miles. There is also a S4c documentary  on Thursday the 3rd August at 9:30pm, for those following Josh’s incredible story.

There has also been selection joy for Alumni athlete Ieuan Thomas (GB) in the 3000m steeplechase, who will also be in action on the Sunday morning at 10:05.

We wish them all the very best, and hoping they can follow in the brilliant performances of Aled Davies, from the recent IPC World Championships.
