BUCS Indoor Team Announced

As the indoor season builds toward the annual university showdown in two weeks time, Cardiff Met are excited to announce this years 38 strong Archers team. Consistency and improvement have been rewarded with selection in both the men’s and women’s sprints with a strong representation from Melissa Roberts and Amy Bowen. Returning to the event where she claimed bronze last year Amy Odunaiya will be a strong contender again in the 200m. In the men’s sprints Dan Beadsley will partner Kane Densley (we couldn’t separate them!) along with fellow training partner Leon Greenwood who joins Thomas Williams in the 200m. Youth meets experience in the men’s 400m with Harry Fisher and Joe Brier representing the Met. In the middle distance events both men’s and women’s teams include exciting names to look out for, Piers Copeland will look to put his 1500m speed to good effect in the 3k and in the women’s 1500m Issy Morris will make her met athletics debut in the indoor event.

In the field Adele Nicoll will attack her indoor national record, and Zach Harrop and Fiona Hockey are exciting prospects in the men’s and women’s vault respectively. Making a BUCS team as a fresher is no easy achievement. Two athletes in the women’s high jump have shown great form this winter, we look forward to seeing Hannah Tapley and Molly Newton fly in the High Jump. Back after a graduating a few years ago, Sara Geary will put her multi-event form to good use in the women’s Long Jump and Hurdles. Fresh from his double at varsity Gage Francis takes on Triple and Long Jump.

Well done to all the athletes selected and thank you to their coaches for assisting them in their preparations for the championships on 16-18th February in Sheffield.
