Another Christmas Cracker (report from Christmas Classic 16th Dec)

Sunday’s Christmas Classic was another huge success, with record entry numbers and performance records. The event kicked off with Commonwealth games Bronze medalist Bethan Davies winning her third straight 3000m walks title. Freshers Harrison Walsh (Shot) Ffion Roberts (300m) and Katrina Simpson (600m) back up their Dual meet victories in the same events to close out a brilliant first term at Cardiff Met. Hannah Tapley came out on top in the high jump and so did Melissa Roberts in the 60m, a great comeback from her recent knee surgery.
The best performance of the day was the brilliant run by Piers Copeland (Picture), going inside the magic 8 minutes in the 3000m with 7:58.60- a new GP and club record. Also featured was the ever popular Santa Dash (see video), and again the whole meeting was only possible with the great support of all the officials and volunteers.
